Download (Word)Mentor Handbook
Your role, how sessions work, boundaries and who to contact. Read this first.
Download (Word)Mentor Code of Conduct

Download (Word)Safeguarding and Child Protection

Download (Word)Mentor Agreement Form
Your details, two referees, DBS consent and the declarations we need before you start.
Download (Word)Your DBS check: what to expect
Because you'll be working with young people, you'll complete an enhanced DBS check (a background check through the Disclosure and Barring Service). It's standard for every mentor, kept confidential, and we'll guide you through each step.
Give your consent
We'll ask for your consent and a few details to start your enhanced DBS application.
Verify your identity
You'll bring your identity documents in person for a member of the Newham Aspire team to check, usually a passport or driving licence, plus proof of address.
We submit it
Newham Aspire submits your application and the DBS carries out the checks. There's nothing more for you to do at this stage.
Your certificate arrives
Your DBS certificate is posted to you, usually within a couple of weeks (occasionally longer). Let us see the outcome so we can complete your file.
Start mentoring
Once your check is clear, we'll match you with a mentee and you're ready to begin.
